The Next Set
Or maybe you’ve already played a few shows and you’re ready to level up, connect with other young artists, and get real-world advice from people working in the music industry?
The Next Set is for you.
On Sunday March 22 at the Beerwah Community Hall, the Sunshine Coast Music Industry Collective (SCMIC) is hosting a dedicated event for musicians under 18 - designed to help you build confidence, knowledge and connections.
What to expect
Industry Round Tables
Sit down with experienced music industry professionals and ask the questions you’ve always wanted answered, like:
-
How do I approach venues and bookers?
-
What should I know before playing my first gig?
-
How do I set up properly for a live show?
-
How do I deal with rejection and keep going?
These small-group discussions are practical, honest and focused on helping you understand the next steps in your music journey.
Live Showcase
Hear from some of the Sunshine Coast’s best and brightest young acts and see what’s possible.
Jam Night
The day wraps up with a collaborative jam session - a chance to meet other young musicians, jump on stage, and be part of something creative and supportive.
Why come?
-
Connect with other like-minded young musicians
-
Meet local industry “movers and shakers”
-
Gain practical knowledge you can use straight away
-
Build confidence in a supportive, youth-focused space
Whether you’re just starting out or already performing, The Next Set is about helping you find your place in the local music scene - and take that next step.
Are you a parent of a budding musician?
While your young artist is learning, connecting and gaining confidence, you’re invited to relax in the lounge and meet the SCMIC board. They’ve shared stages with the likes of New Found Glory, Amy Shark, The Angels, The Beautiful Girls, Jem Cassar Daley, The Choir Boys, Middle Kids, James Reyne, Boom Crash Opera, Mi-Sex, Dragon, Tanya George, Pricey and Kingswood. And they’ve snagged coveted support slots on tours with The Screaming Jets and The Superjesus.
